What is a water bladder?
Water bladders are designed to transport water while also making drinking more convenient and efficient. Hydration bladders can be used for hiking, trekking, camping, biking, running and many other outdoor activities.
How Often Should You Wash Your Hydration Bladder?
It’s important to deep clean your hydration pack once or twice a month, while remembering to rinse your reservoir tube and drying it after every use.
How to clean water bladder?
1. Prepare supplies: Before cleaning the water bladder, make sure you have the necessary supplies ready. This may include a bottle brush, mild soap or cleaning tablets, a small amount of bleach (optional), and a drying rack.
2. Empty and disassemble the bladder: Pour out any remaining water from the bladder and remove the bite valve and hose from the bladder. Some bladders may also have a removable cap or opening at the top for easier cleaning.
3. Rinse the bladder: Rinse the bladder with warm water to remove any remaining dirt or debris.
4. Use soap or cleaning tablets: If your bladder has a strong odor or visible stains, use a small amount of mild soap or a cleaning tablet specifically designed for water bladders. Follow the instructions on the cleaning product and make sure to thoroughly rinse the bladder afterwards.
5. Bleach option: For tougher stains or persistent odors, mix a solution of 1 teaspoon of bleach with 1 liter of water. Pour this solution into the bladder and let it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing it out thoroughly with warm water.
6. Clean the bite valve and hose: Use a mixture of warm water and soap to clean the bite valve and hose, using a bottle brush to get into any crevices. Rinse them thoroughly afterwards.
7. Dry the bladder and accessories: After cleaning, use a drying rack or towel to dry the bladder, hose, and bite valve thoroughly. Make sure all components are completely dry before reassembling them.
8. Store the bladder properly: Once dry, make sure to store the bladder in a cool and dry place, preferably with the cap or opening slightly open to allow air circulation and prevent mold growth.
How to get plastic taste out of water bladder?
1. Clean the bladder first: Before attempting to remove the plastic taste, make sure that the bladder is clean. Rinse it thoroughly with warm water and soap, and then let it air dry.
2. Use vinegar: Fill the bladder with warm water and add a tablespoon of white vinegar. Let the vinegar sit in the bladder for about an hour before rinsing it out with warm water.
3. Lemon juice: Lemon juice can help remove the plastic taste from the bladder. Squeeze the juice of one lemon into the bladder and fill it with warm water. Let it sit for about an hour before rinsing it out.
4. Baking soda: Create a mixture of warm water and baking soda, and fill the bladder with it. Let it sit for a few hours before rinsing it out with warm water.
5. Add a pinch of salt: Add a pinch of salt to the water in the bladder and mix well. Let it sit for a few hours before rinsing it out with warm water.
6. Use activated charcoal: Activated charcoal is known to absorb unpleasant tastes and odors. Fill the bladder with warm water and place a few pieces of activated charcoal inside. Let it sit for a few hours before removing the charcoal and rinsing the bladder.
7. Sunshine: The UV rays from the sun can help eliminate the plastic taste from the bladder. Fill the bladder with water and leave it in direct sunlight for a few hours before rinsing it out.
8. Replace the bladder: If the plastic taste persists, it may be time to replace the bladder with a new one. Over time, the plastic in water bladders can degrade, causing a permanent plastic taste.
How to dry out osprey water bladder?
1. Empty the bladder: Turn the bladder upside down and empty any remaining liquid from the nozzle and opening.
2. Hang to air dry: Use a hanger or clip to hang the bladder in a well-ventilated area. Make sure it is fully open and that both the nozzle and opening are facing downwards to allow for proper air flow.
3. Use a towel or cloth: If you do not have a place to hang the bladder, use a towel or cloth to wipe the inside of the bladder and dry it as much as possible. Then leave it open to air dry.
What Makes SIBO The Best Water Bladders?
SIBO water bladders are a reliable lightweight solution to ensure you have an adequate water supply while traveling. Unique materials and advanced hydration reservoir technology guarantee low maintenance, zero plastic taste, and water stay fresh for weeks and months.
The inside of our bladders is 2000% smoother than standard TPU films of our competitors, resulting in a virtually self-cleaning surface. The embedded Grunge Guard agent further prevents bacteria growth so that the water in your reservoir does not develop any taste or funk.
Sibo water bladder is an affordable and simple bladder with a lightweight and durable profile that will fit into nearly any type of hydration sleeve. The flow rate is ample, delivering water with minimal effort. The price is also right. If you’re seeking a straightforward bladder that’ll keep you hydrated on the go, this is a great option.
The Perfect Hands-Free Hydration Technology
Carrying a water bottle can be a pain, especially during strenuous outdoor activities. With hydration bladders and systems, staying hydrated has truly never been easier. The bladders can be refilled as many times as necessary for optimal hydration, so the only thing you should be worrying about is your hike or run.
Hydration bladders are made from durable, BPA-free plastic that is meant to have a long lifespan if cared for properly. This plastic comes in various forms: For example, Sibo products are clear and rigid, while most offerings are opaque with a slight bit of stretch. Both styles get the job done; we have both an old Platypus Big Zip and Osprey Hydraulics that are still going strong after six years of use. In fact, the vast majority of durability issues seem to be the result of user error—it’s important to keep your reservoir away from sharp objects like microspikes and trekking poles, and store it in a safe place between uses.
